Telaah Diksi dalam Kitab Zikr Ratibul Haddad Karya Ahmad Zacky El-Syafa : Pada Kalimat Zikr Astaghfillaaha Rabbal Barayaa, Astaghfirullaha Minal Khathayaa

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the diction chosen by translators when translating. Because one of the necessary and urgent requirements in translating a foreign language into the target language is word selection (diction), namely searching for and selecting words, terms or expressions in the TL that are precise, careful and harmonious.This research is descriptive qualitative research that focuses on explanations based on the findings as they are. The theory used is Gorys Keraf's theory which concludes as follows: First, diction includes understanding the words that will be used to convey an idea and which style is best used in a situation. Second, diction is the ability to correctly distinguish the nuances of meaning of the ideas to be conveyed and the ability to find a form that suits the situation and the taste values ​​of the listening group. Third, the correct and appropriate choice of words or diction is only possible by mastering a large number of vocabulary or language vocabulary. After analyzing the translation results from Ahmad Dzacky El-Syafa in the book Zikr Ratib Al-Haddad by Al-Habib Abdullah bin Alawi Al-Haddad, there are several aspects of the SL that are translated word for word and freely. However, researchers still found several diction choices that were less appropriate in translation. Then the researcher found denotative and connotative words that were not appropriate when translated into the TL because the diction chosen was not appropriate. So there is still a lot that needs to be improved in Ahmad Dzacky El-Syafa's translation in choosing diction.
