Publication Decisions

The editor of GoJIS: Gorontalo Journal of Islamic Studies is responsible for deciding which articles to submit to journals that should be published. Validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers should always drive the decision. Editors may be guided by the journal's editorial board policies and are limited by applicable legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors can consult with other editors or reviewers in making these decisions.

Fairness

An editor at all times evaluates the manuscript for its intellectual content regardless of the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff should not disclose any information about the submitted manuscript to anyone other than the relevant author, reviewers, prospective reviewers, other editorial advisors, and publishers, as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished material disclosed in submitted manuscripts should not be used in the editor's own research without the written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

GoJIS: Gorontalo Journal of Islamic Studies uses a double-blind review process. Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions. The editor communicates with the author in improving the quality of the standard of his paper.

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels ineligible to review research reported in the manuscript must notify the editor and excuse himself or herself from the review process. The editor immediately sends the manuscript to another referee.

Confidentiality

Any manuscript accepted for review should be treated as a confidential document. They may not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

The review must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees must clearly express their views with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the author. Any statement that observations, derivations, or arguments have been previously reported must be accompanied by relevant citations. A reviewer should also draw the editor's attention to substantial similarities or overlaps between the manuscript under consideration and other published papers of which they are personally aware.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review should be kept confidential and not used for personal gain. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest resulting from a competitive, collaborative, or other relationship or connection with any author, company, or institution connected to the paper.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

The author must present an accurate report of the work done as well as an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data should be accurately represented in the paper. A paper should contain enough detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or deliberately inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable behavior.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors should ensure that they have written a completely original work, and if the author has used someone else's work and/or words, this has been properly quoted or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

An author cannot, in general, publish a manuscript that essentially describes the same research in more than one major journal or publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is unethical publishing behavior and therefore unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper recognition of the work of others is mandatory. The author must cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the current work.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the manuscript. All persons who have made significant contributions must be listed as co-authors. If there are other people who have participated in a particular substantive aspect of the research project, they must be recognized or registered as contributors. Appropriate authors should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the paper, and that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the paper and have approved its submission for publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose in their manuscripts any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may be interpreted to affect the outcome or interpretation of their manuscripts. All sources of financial support for the project must be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author discovers significant errors or inaccuracies in his self-published work, the author is obliged to immediately notify the editor of the journal GoJIS: Gorontalo Journal of Islamic Studies and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
